Dr. Gary Jones, Jr. 

Dr. Gary L. Jones, Jr. is an Assistant Professor of Social Work with a rich background in child welfare, family formation, and promoting racial equity. With 18 years of hands-on experience as a social worker, his focus lies in enhancing services for youth in foster care. He has actively engaged in both qualitative and quantitative research projects across various esteemed institutions such as Wayne State University, Southern Adventist University, University of Maryland, and Howard University.

 

Dr. Jones contributed significantly to impactful research, notably working on women's health and Vesico Vaginal Fistula in Kana, Nigeria, under the guidance of Dr. Onolemhemhen. These experiences, combined with his extensive practice, have equipped him with the skills to drive positive change in the lives of resilient and underserved populations.


Currently serving as the MSW Interim Coordinator at Tennessee State University's College of Public Service in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Jones remains dedicated to leveraging his expertise and research background to advocate for marginalized communities and advance the welfare of vulnerable, resilient, and underserved populations.
